Become a Referral Agent

A Smarter Way to Stay in Real Estate
If you’re a licensed agent who doesn’t want the grind of full‑time production anymore—but you still want to monetize your license and your network—eXp’s Referral Division was built exactly for you.
As a referral agent, you don’t represent buyers or sellers. Instead, you connect them with a local eXp (or non‑eXp) agent and earn a referral fee when the deal closes.
What does it mean to be a Referral Agent
-
You do not act as the agent of record for clients
-
You can send and receive referrals to eXp and non‑eXp agents and earn referral fees.
-
You can represent yourself on your own personal transactions (not family or friends), with broker guidance as needed
-
You are not required to join a local Realtor association or MLS, which removes a huge chunk of overhead

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I still represent myself on my own home purchase or sale?
A: Yes. In eXp Referral, you may represent yourself on personal transactions where you are a party to the deal (not other family members), but you won’t have MLS access or all the usual tools, so eXp recommends partnering with an active eXp agent
Q: Do I have to join the local Realtor association or MLS?
A: No! eXp’s Referral Division fee is only about $50/month, with no association or MLS dues required.
Q: Can I earn revenue share as a referral‑only agent?
A: Yes. You can still attract other agents to eXp and earn revenue share from their production under eXp’s 7‑tier revenue share model.
Q: What if I want to go back to full production later?
A: You can work with your state broker team to move from referral status back into full active status with eXp Realty or eXp Commercial when you’re ready.
